Afghanistan’s Commerce Minister Visits India to Boost Trade Ties

New Delhi:Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi,Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce, led a trade delegation to India from November 19-25, 2025, to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Minister Azizi met with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, to discuss bilateral ties, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. He also held delegation-level talks with Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, to discuss trade facilitation, market access, and capacity-building.

Key outcomes of the visit include the initiation of an Air Freight Corridor on the Kabul-Delhi and Kabul-Amritsar sectors, reactivation of the Joint Working Group on Trade, Commerce, and Investment, and exploration of opportunities for collaboration in mining and high-value sectors. India and Afghanistan will depute Commercial Representatives at their respective Embassies and establish a Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Minister Azizi visited the India International Trade Fair (IITF 2025), interacted with exhibitors, and toured the cultural display. His delegation held meetings with key Indian organizations, including APEDA, TEXPROCIL, and PHDCCI, to discuss long-term supply of agricultural products, medicines, and essential commodities to Afghanistan.

The visit reflects the strong commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral engagement and cooperation in trade, economy, and investments. India remains committed to working closely with Afghanistan to advance this economic partnership, benefiting both nations.
