A delegation of Canadian college and polytechnic presidents, led by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), is visiting India from March 16-20, 2026, to explore partnerships with Indian institutions and industry leaders.

CICan represents 127 institutions that train Canada’s builders, makers, caregivers, and innovators. With 50 years of experience in workforce training, CICan connects education, industry, government, and communities globally.

The mission aims to showcase Canada’s expertise in skills training and align with India’s national skills imperatives in key sectors. This visit follows Prime Minister Carney’s February 2026 trip to India and the launch of the Canada-India Joint Talent and Innovation Strategy.

“India is home to a very large and talented young population who will be entering the workforce in the years to come. Canada and India will both benefit greatly from top-notch skills training to capitalize on the jobs of tomorrow. Canadian colleges and educational institutes have proven programs that can provide the skills training needed in a global economy. This important CICan visit will open new avenues for further collaboration towards developing a world-class Canada-India skills partnership for the future.” said High Commissioner Chris Cooter.

CICan President and CEO Pari Johnston added, “We’re excited to explore opportunities with Indian institutions and industry associations, creating a skilled workforce for tomorrow.”

The delegation will visit New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, meeting government officials, industry leaders, and postsecondary institutions.
