Chhattisgarh CM Meets Amit Shah to Review New Criminal Laws and Discuss Naxal Eradication

New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah today to review the implementation of new criminal laws in the state. The meeting also focused on the eradication of Naxalism and the development of the Bastar region.

During the meeting, CM Sai informed that Chhattisgarh has made significant preparations for the effective implementation of the new laws. The state has formulated 27 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, trained around 37,385 police personnel, and upgraded infrastructure in courts, police stations, and jails. So far, 53,981 FIRs have been registered under the new laws, with charge sheets filed in approximately 50% of the cases.

The meeting discussed special strategies for a permanent solution to the Naxal problem. CM Sai highlighted the state’s efforts, including the Niyad Nelanar Yojana, Bastar Olympics, Women Security Center, and development of homestay and tourism infrastructure in tribal areas. These initiatives have had a significant impact in connecting youth to the mainstream. The state government aims to make Chhattisgarh Naxal-free by 2026 and develop Bastar as a major tourist center.

Amit Shah stressed the need for 100% implementation of the new criminal laws in Chhattisgarh at the earliest. He emphasized the importance of coordination and efficiency in this process, stating that the objective of the new legal framework is to make the judicial system simpler, faster, and more people-oriented.

CM Sai reaffirmed Chhattisgarh’s commitment to fully adhering to the Central Government’s guidelines, assuring that the state would take a leading role in the effective implementation of the new laws. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Union Home Ministry and the state government, including Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma.
