DRDO Launches Agni-Prime Missile from Rail-Based Mobile Launcher

New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough for India’s defense capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) successfully launched an Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based mobile launcher system today.
The launch, conducted under a full operational scenario, showcased the missile’s advanced features and capabilities, including its ability to cover a range of up to 2000 km. The rail-based mobile launcher system, designed for cross-country mobility, allows for quick deployment and launch with reduced visibility, making it a formidable addition to India’s strategic arsenal.
The missile’s trajectory was meticulously tracked by various ground stations, and the launch met all mission objectives. This successful test paves the way for the induction of futuristic rail-based systems into the services.
The launch was witnessed by senior DRDO scientists and officers from the Strategic Forces Command. Notably, the Road Mobile Agni-P has already been inducted into the services following a series of successful flight trials.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces on this achievement, stating that this flight test places India among the select nations with canisterized launch capabilities from rail networks.
The Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, and Chairman DRDO praised the participating teams for their exceptional work, highlighting the collaborative effort that led to this success.
This achievement underscores India’s growing prowess in missile technology and its commitment to enhancing national security through indigenous innovation.
