India and France Strengthen Civil Nuclear Energy Ties

The second meeting of the India-France Special Task Force on Civil Nuclear Energy took place in New Delhi on September 22, 2025. Co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Secretary-General Anne-Marie Descôtes, the meeting aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the civil nuclear energy sector.
Both sides reviewed progress made over the past year and agreed to maintain close collaboration on key aspects of bilateral civil nuclear cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to emerging technologies like Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs), as outlined in the Declaration of Intent signed in February 2025.
The meeting also discussed strengthening their long-standing partnership by advancing cooperation in innovation and technology, defense, space, and counter-terrorism. Additionally, they exchanged views on global and regional developments, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia.
The meeting demonstrated the commitment of both countries to deepen their strategic partnership, exploring joint projects and cooperation in various sectors to foster a strong and collaborative relationship.
