India Calls for United Action Against Terrorism at SCO NSA Meeting

(Ajit Doval Meets Wang Yi, Discusses Counter-Terrorism and Bilateral Cooperation)
Beijing: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) NSA meeting in Beijing on June 24, where he emphasized the need for collective action against terrorism. Doval highlighted India’s deep concerns about continued threats from terror groups designated by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al Qaeda, and its affiliates, and ISIS and its affiliates.
Doval condemned the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 Indian and Nepalese nationals. He stated that India’s actions to dismantle terror infrastructure and deter terrorists were measured and non-escalatory.
The NSA emphasized the need to hold accountable the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of cross-border terror and to bring them to justice. He called on SCO members to shun double standards in the fight against terrorism and take decisive actions against UN-proscribed terrorists and entities.
Doval proposed several initiatives for cooperation among SCO member states, including an algorithm for joint actions to counter challenges posed by international terrorist organizations, joint measures to counter radicalization leading to terrorism, separatism, and extremism, and a joint information operation to counter extremist ideology.
These proposals aim to strengthen cooperation among SCO member states in combating terrorism and promoting regional security. India’s approach to prosper together with SCO member states will be guided by the millennia-old Indian principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which emphasizes the world as one family.
