India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrike on a hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, calling it a “cowardly and unconscionable act of violence” that killed hundreds of civilians. The attack on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital on March 16 is seen as a blatant assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a threat to regional peace.
“Pakistan is trying to dress up a massacre as a military operation,” India’s statement read, criticizing Pakistan’s attempt to justify the strike. The attack, carried out during Ramadan, is considered “all the more reprehensible” given its timing.
India has called for international accountability for the perpetrators and an end to Pakistan’s targeting of Afghan civilians. “The international community must hold the perpetrators of this criminal act accountable,” India’s statement emphasized.
India extends condolences to the families of the victims and supports Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
A Pakistani airstrike hit the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing at least 400 people and injuring around 250 others, according to the Taliban government. The attack occurred around 9 pm on Monday, targeting the 2,000-bed facility.
The Taliban accused Pakistan of violating Afghan airspace and targeting civilians, while Pakistan denied the allegations, claiming its strikes were aimed at military installations and terrorist support infrastructure. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that the strikes were “precise and carefully undertaken” to avoid civilian casualties.
