India, Vietnam Strengthen Coast Guard Cooperation to Enhance Maritime Security

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) held their 6th High-Level Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam today. The meeting aimed to bolster cooperation in maritime security, search and rescue, and environmental protection.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance collaboration in areas such as maritime law enforcement, marine pollution response, and capacity building. They also focused on combating transnational maritime crimes, including smuggling, trafficking, and illegal fishing.

The ICG and VCG agreed to continue joint initiatives to strengthen interoperability and coordination in search and rescue operations and pollution response. They emphasized the importance of regular institutional interactions, training programs, and exchange of best practices.

The meeting reflected the shared commitment of both Coast Guards to ensure regional maritime security, safety, and environmental sustainability. The ICG and VCG are working together to foster mutual trust and operational synergy, promoting a safer and more secure maritime environment.

The meeting was co-chaired by Additional Director General ICG Anand Prakash Badola and Vice Commandant, VCG, Major General Vu Trung Kien.
