Israel Embassy in India Marks Second Anniversary of October 7 Terror Attacks

New Delhi: The Embassy of Israel in India solemnly commemorated the second anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks with a heartfelt event in New Delhi. The ceremony brought together dignitaries, diplomats, and media representatives to honor the victims and reflect on the ongoing fight against terrorism.

Lt Gen (retd) Vinod Khandare, former Principal Advisor to the Ministry of Defence and Deputy National Security Advisor of India, paid tribute to the resilience and courage of those affected. He emphasized the need for vigilance and international cooperation in combating terrorism, highlighting the strong defense and strategic partnership between India and Israel.

“Existential threat is something which is common to India and Israel, and that is where we both share a common desire, not only to survive but to prosper and become strong.” said Gen Khandare.

Avihay Brodutch, a resident of Kibbutz Kfar Aza who survived the Hamas attacks, shared his harrowing experience. His family was abducted and held captive for 51 days before being released during a temporary ceasefire. Brodutch’s emotional account underscored the civilian suffering and the resilience of those seeking justice and peace.

The Israeli Trio4 performed poignant songs reflecting the emotional journey of the Israeli people since October 7, weaving together national sorrow with a message of hope and resilience. Their performance was a tribute to the victims and a reminder of the power of music to bridge cultures and emotions.

Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar, expressed gratitude for India’s solidarity and support during these difficult times. He acknowledged the shared experiences of both countries in dealing with terrorism and their commitment to overcoming it.

“To all those who have stood with Israel during these incredibly difficult times, we say thank you for your solidarity and support…We are grateful for the support we got from Prime Minister Modi, the Indian government and the Indian people. Both countries have suffered from terrorism and we share the conviction required to deal with it and prevail,” said Ambassador Azar.

The event concluded with a call for unity and support for the remaining hostages, with prayers for their safe return and a respectful burial.
