Korea-India Friendship Screening Honors 60 Para Field Ambulance

New Delhi: The Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) organized a special event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Korean War. The Korea-India Friendship Screening paid tribute to the selfless sacrifice of India’s 60 Para Field Ambulance, which served as part of the UN Forces during the war.
In 1950, India dispatched the 60 Para Field Ambulance, a unit composed of 341 medical personnel, to Korea. For 25 months, they operated on the front lines, rescuing and treating wounded soldiers. Their service embodied the spirit of humanity and international cooperation, reaffirming the deep friendship and solidarity between Korea and India.
The event featured a screening of the film “Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War,” which captures the tragedy of a divided nation and the bonds of brotherhood during wartime. The film serves as a poignant reminder of the shared values and sacrifices between Korea and India.
In addition to the film screening, visitors had the opportunity to experience a Korean calligraphy workshop and a Virtual Reality journey that gave them a remarkably lifelike experience of Korea’s natural beauty.
Hwang Il Yong, Director of KCCI, said, “Film is more than a medium—it’s a powerful bridge for sharing emotion, memory, and understanding. India’s dispatch of the 60 Para Field Ambulance during the Korean War is a testament to true friendship and noble sacrifice. We hope this event allows all viewers to reflect on the enduring ties between Korea and India and to experience a profound sense of empathy and connection through cinema.”
Prajal Sharma, a student from New Delhi, attended the screening and shared his thoughts. “I have come here today as I really love Korean culture,” he said. “The film, Taegukgi, was very moving and I really enjoyed it as I love watching patriotic movies. The story of 60 Para Field Ambulance and the India connection to the Korean War was another reason I watched the movie. It is because of what the Indian paramedics did, it formed a strong bond between our two countries.”
