PM Modi Attends 70th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Bhutan’s Fourth King

Thimphu, Bhutan – Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the King of Bhutan, the Royal Family, and the people of Bhutan to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan, at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.

The event began with a collective prayer led by the King of Bhutan, paying homage to the victims of the Delhi blast. Prime Minister Modi conveyed India’s warm wishes to the Fourth King and the people of Bhutan, highlighting his transformative reign, which saw Bhutan emerge as a modern nation-state and constitutional democratic monarchy.

Modi praised the Fourth King’s introduction of Gross National Happiness, blending economic growth with sustainability. He thanked the King for his invaluable contribution to the special friendship between India and Bhutan, shaping the partnership across various sectors.

The Prime Minister commended the current King of Bhutan’s vision and efforts in carrying forward the Fourth King’s legacy. He underscored Bhutan’s remarkable progress and the enduring friendship between India and Bhutan, expressing confidence that the relationship will continue to benefit from the Fourth King’s guidance.

The celebration highlighted the strong bond between India and Bhutan, with both nations committed to strengthening their partnership.
