Counter-Intelligence Kashmir and SIA Kashmir Conduct Searches at Central Jail, Srinagar

Srinagar: In a major operation, Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) and SIA Kashmir of J&K Police jointly conducted searches at Central Jail, Srinagar, in a terror-linked case. Several digital devices, including cellphones, were recovered during the searches.

The operation was carried out in pursuance of a search warrant issued by the Court of Special Judge, Designated under NIA Act, Srinagar, in case FIR No. 06/2023. The case pertains to a larger conspiracy hatched by proscribed terrorist organizations operating within J&K and across the LoC.

Investigations revealed that mobile phones and devices were being used by under-trial terrorists and their supporters within the Central Jail premises to communicate with active terrorists and pass on directions received from handlers across the border.

The searches were conducted in different blocks and barracks of Central Jail Srinagar, resulting in the recovery of incriminating material, including SIM cards, mobile phones, and other digital devices. The investigating agency is also probing the security breach of Central Jail premises and the role of facilitators and collaborators in this act.

This operation aims to uncover crucial evidence, curb illicit activities, prevent the misuse of communication devices, and dismantle the terror ecosystem in the UT. The investigating agency will also take legal action against terrorist associates and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who support and abet terrorism using mobile phones.
