Union Home Minister Amit Shah Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Police Martyrs

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah honored the memory of police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. At the National Police Memorial, Shah acknowledged the tireless efforts of India’s security forces.

He was joined by Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, and other senior police officials.

Shah highlighted the significant progress made in restoring peace to previously troubled regions, including Jammu & Kashmir, Left-wing extremism-affected areas, and the Northeast. He recognized the immense sacrifices of 36,468 police personnel who have lost their lives since independence.

The minister expressed confidence in India’s security forces, praising their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and other threats. Shah reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting the forces and ensuring national safety.

The ceremony commemorated the 1959 Hot Springs incident, where ten policemen bravely sacrificed their lives. This annual tribute honors their memory and the sacrifices of all police martyrs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the National Police Memorial in 2018, symbolizing national pride and unity among police forces. The memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made.

The somber ceremony included a joint parade by Central Armed Police Forces and Delhi Police. Dignitaries, police officials, and family members of the martyrs attended.

Shah’s tribute underscored the nation’s gratitude for the selfless service of police personnel. India remains indebted to its brave martyrs and their families.

The government’s commitment to police welfare was also highlighted, with initiatives such as the Ayushman CAPF scheme, housing programs, and scholarship schemes for police personnel’s children.
