Himachal Pradesh Floods: PM Modi Visits Affected Areas, Announces Relief Measures

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Himachal Pradesh today to assess the damage caused by recent floods and landslides in the state. During his visit, PM Modi conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas and held a meeting with officials in Kangra to review the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The Prime Minister announced a financial assistance package of Rs. 1500 crore for Himachal Pradesh to support relief and rehabilitation efforts. He also announced an advance release of the second installment of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to support affected farmers and communities.

PM Modi emphasized the need for a multi-dimensional approach to restore normalcy in the affected areas. He directed that efforts be made to rebuild homes under the PM Awas Yojana, restore national highways, and rebuild schools. The government will also provide relief under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and distribute mini kits to support livestock.

The Prime Minister also met with families affected by the calamity and expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones. He announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to those seriously injured in the floods.

PM Modi appreciated the efforts of personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army, and other service-oriented organizations for their role in immediate relief and response efforts. The Central government will continue to work closely with the state government to provide all possible assistance and support to affected communities.
