Indian Coast Guard Conducts Regional Search and Rescue Exercise

New Delhi:The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Regional Headquarters (East), Chennai, is set to conduct a regional-level Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise today. The exercise aims to enhance coordination among maritime and civil agencies in responding to distress situations at sea.

The exercise, scheduled to take place at ICG Station Karaikal, will feature the participation of the Indian Navy, Customs, Karaikal Port, and other stakeholders. Approximately five surface units and multiple air assets of the ICG will be involved in the exercise, which will simulate a maritime distress scenario. This will help foster synergy and operational readiness among all stakeholders.

As a precursor to the exercise, a seminar, workshop, and table-top exercise were conducted on April 21, 2025. These events marked the beginning of a collaborative effort focused on improving synergy, coordination, and preparedness in managing maritime emergencies.
