India-EU Counter-Terrorism Talks Focus on Emerging Threats

The 15th Meeting of the India-EU Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism took place in Brussels on September 9, 2025. Co-chaired by European External Action Service’s Maciej Stadejek and India’s Joint Secretary (Counter-terrorism) K.D. Dewal, the dialogue aimed to bolster cooperation between the two entities in combating terrorism.
Both sides condemned terrorism in all forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism. The EU reiterated condolences to India for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Discussions focused on domestic, regional, and global threat assessments, counter-terrorism policies, and emerging technologies.
The India-EU dialogue emphasized the importance of cooperation in multilateral fora like the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Key areas of focus included countering terrorism financing, preventing online radicalization, and designating terrorists and terrorist entities.
The next meeting of the Joint Working Group will take place in New Delhi, further solidifying India-EU partnership in combating terrorism.
