India-Denmark Discuss Defence, Trade, and Sustainability Ties

New Delhi: The 8th round of India-Denmark Foreign Office Consultations (FOCs) was held today, co-chaired by Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, and Lotte Machon, State Secretary for Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
The consultations reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, with both sides expressing satisfaction with ongoing cooperation under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership. Discussions focused on strengthening ties in areas such as political engagement, trade and investment, renewable energy, sustainability, clean technologies, and circular economy.
Key areas of cooperation include defence and security, new and emerging technologies, and the Arctic. The Danish side reiterated its support for India’s fight against terrorism and permanent membership in a reformed UN Security Council. Both sides also discussed cooperation under the India-EU Strategic Partnership and the ongoing negotiations for an India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
The consultations covered regional and global issues, emphasizing the importance of multilateral engagements and dialogue on global challenges. Both sides agreed to continue regular consultations and hold the next round of FOCs in Copenhagen at a mutually convenient date.
