Amit Shah Holds Meeting in Maoist-Affected Village, Promises Development and Welfare
In a significant outreach effort, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held an informal meeting with villagers under a Mahua tree in Gunda, a Maoist-affected village in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. The meeting attended by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
During the meeting, Shah interacted warmly with the residents and shared the government’s commitment to eradicating Maoist insurgency by March 31, 2026, a goal initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the significant progress made in confining the influence of Naxalism to a limited area.
Shah emphasized the importance of development and welfare in the region, encouraging villagers to participate in government programs and integrate into the mainstream. He stressed the need for education, urging parents to send their children to school regularly. The Home Minister also informed the villagers about the medical facilities available at the nearby camp hospital and encouraged them to seek free treatment.
Additionally, Shah explained the benefits of government schemes such as free 35 kg rice and the Maternity Welfare Scheme, ensuring the villagers were aware of the assistance available to them. He also directed the district collector to organize public service camps for creating essential documents such as Aadhaar cards, ration cards, bank passbooks, and Ayushman cards.
The Union Home Minister assured the villagers that within a year, the government would provide basic amenities, including roads, electricity, schools, hospitals, and drinking water facilities in the village. This move is seen as a significant step towards bringing development and welfare to the Maoist-affected region.
