Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS Seize Rs 1,800 Crore Worth of Narcotics

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have successfully conducted a joint operation, seizing over 300 kg of suspected methamphetamine worth approximately Rs 1,800 crore. The operation was carried out on April 12-13, based on intelligence inputs.
The ICG ship, deployed off North Maharashtra/South Gujarat, intercepted a suspected transshipment near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). Despite the challenging night conditions, the ICG team identified the suspect boat and initiated a hot chase. However, the perpetrators evaded interception by crossing the IMBL.
The suspect boat had dumped the narcotics consignment into the sea, which was recovered by the ICG team using a sea boat. The team conducted a thorough search and successfully retrieved the sizeable amount of narcotics.
This operation demonstrates the strong synergy between the ICG and ATS, marking the 13th successful law enforcement operation in recent years. The joint effort highlights the commitment of Indian agencies to combat the narcotics trade and ensure national security. The seized narcotics has been brought to Porbandar for further investigation.
