Indian Navy and Indonesian Navy Chart New Course for Maritime Cooperation

New Delhi: The Indian Navy recently hosted a high-level delegation from the Indonesian Navy, led by Admiral Muhammad Ali, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy. The visit was part of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s attendance at India’s 76th Republic Day Parade as the Chief Guest.

During the visit, Admiral Muhammad Ali and Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, engaged in bilateral discussions to deepen maritime cooperation and strengthen ties between the two nations. The talks focused on advancing joint initiatives, strengthening operational collaboration, and addressing shared maritime challenges.

Admiral Muhammad Ali also visited key maritime establishments, including the Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) and the Weapons and Electronics Systems and Engineering Establishment (WESEE). These engagements aimed to enhance regional collaboration and maritime domain awareness.

In addition, Admiral Muhammad Ali visited the BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in defense and strategy.

The Indian Navy’s efforts to strengthen maritime ties with Indonesia reflect a shared commitment to fostering regional cooperation and ensuring a secure and peaceful maritime environment. This development is significant, given the importance of the Indo-Pacific region and the need for cooperation among maritime nations to address shared challenges.
