Indian Navy’s INS Imphal Concludes Visit to Mauritius

Port Louis: The Indian Navy’s INS Imphal has concluded a successful port visit to Mauritius, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties and maritime security cooperation between the two nations.

As part of the visit, INS Imphal participated in the 57th Mauritius National Day celebrations, showcasing India’s commitment to fostering robust relationships with its maritime neighbors. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Chief Guest.

During the celebrations, INS Imphal’s crew showcased their skills through a marching contingent, the Indian Navy band, and a flypast by two MH 60R helicopters.

The port visit also included a range of professional interactions, cultural engagements, sports fixtures, and community outreach activities. INS Imphal conducted training capsules for Mauritius National Coast Guard (NCG) personnel, focusing on practical aspects of maritime security operations.

The ship’s crew also engaged with the local community, conducting a medical camp for the elderly at Gayasingh Ashram and opening the ship to the public on March 12, attracting over 1,300 visitors.

Following its departure from Port Louis, INS Imphal undertook a bilateral Passage Exercise and Joint EEZ surveillance with MCGS Victory, further consolidating the synergy and collaboration between the Indian Navy and the National Coast Guard of Mauritius.

This landmark deployment of INS Imphal has reaffirmed India’s commitment to acting as the ‘First Responder’ and ‘Preferred Security Partner’ in addressing maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
