India’s Largest Tri-Service Exercise AMPHEX 2025 Concludes Successfully

Karwar: The Indian Armed Forces successfully concluded AMPHEX 2025, the largest biennial tri-service amphibious exercise, at Kwada Bay in Karwar, Karnataka. The 19-day exercise, held from January 12 to 31, 2025, demonstrated the combined capabilities and interoperability of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force in conducting large-scale joint operations.
The exercise featured an impressive array of amphibious ships, including the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) INS Jalashwa, Landing Ships INS Gharial and Kesari, and Landing Crafts. Marine Commandos, helicopters, and aircraft also played a crucial role in the exercise. The Indian Army participated with over 500 troops from the 91 Infantry Brigade, comprising Special Forces, Engineers, Signals, Artillery, and Armoured Vehicles.

The exercise was jointly reviewed by the Vice Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee. AMPHEX 2025 validated the unparalleled synergy and jointmanship between the three services, demonstrating their ability to execute complex amphibious operations seamlessly.
The successful conclusion of AMPHEX 2025 marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to enhance its amphibious warfare capabilities and strengthen joint operations among its armed forces.

The exercise involved a series of complex operations, including bunker-busting, combat-free fall by Marine Commandos of the Indian Navy, and the landing of troops and BMPs by Landing Craft Mechanised and Landing Craft Assault. The successful establishment of a beachhead culminated the exercise.
AMPHEX 25 highlighted the seamless coordination, rigorous training, and integrated mission planning between the amphibious ‘Bisons’ of Sudarshan Chakra Corps and the ships of the Indian Navy.
