NIA Achieves 100% Conviction Rate in 2024, Solves High-Profile Cases

New Delhi: In a remarkable achievement, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has secured a 100% conviction rate in 2024, solving several high-profile cases and arresting 210 accused across various crime categories.
According to the NIA, the agency registered 80 cases in 2024, with a focus on Left Wing Extremism (LWE), North East insurgency, and terrorist-gangster nexus.
The NIA’s efforts to combat LWE and North East insurgency yielded significant results, with 28 LWE cases and 18 North East insurgency cases registered. The agency arrested 69 accused in LWE cases and 15 accused in North East insurgency cases.
In addition, the NIA made significant strides in disrupting the terrorist-gangster nexus, arresting 14 accused in foreign-based Khalistani terrorist cases and 13 accused in gangster-related cases.
The agency’s conviction rate was a perfect 100%, with 68 accused convicted in 25 cases. The NIA also filed charge sheets against 408 accused.
As part of its efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks, the NIA attached 137 properties/assets worth Rs 19.57 crore.
Some of the notable cases solved by the NIA in 2024 include the Rameshwaram café blast case, which was cracked within months of the incident. The agency arrested five accused and charge sheeted four in connection with the case.
In another significant achievement, the NIA charge sheeted Pakistan-based Khalistani Networks.and five other terrorists in the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Punjab.
The NIA also made significant progress in combating human trafficking, arresting several accused in cases registered in Bengaluru and other parts of the country.
To strengthen its capacities, the NIA established two new exclusive courts in Jammu and Ranchi to expedite trial proceedings. The agency also released a handbook on UA(P)A investigations to standardize terror case investigations.
In addition, the NIA trained 1,678 state police officials through 11 training programs/courses in 2024.
The NIA’s achievements in 2024 demonstrate its commitment to combating terrorism and crime, and its efforts to strengthen the country’s national security apparatus.
