NSA Ajit Doval Stresses Need for Conflict Resolution and Introspection

New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval emphasized the importance of conflict resolution and introspection while speaking at the launch of the Hindi version of Ahmet T. Kuru’s book “Islam and Authoritarianism: Underdevelopment – A Global and Historical Comparison” at the New Delhi World Book Fair.

Doval highlighted the need for societies and states to engage in introspection, stating that “introspection by states and societies has always been important.” He noted that the relationship between state and religion is not unique to Islam, citing the Abbasid rule as an example of clarity on the role of state and clergy.

The National Security Advisor acknowledged that conflicts between religion and state will persist, but emphasized the importance of seeking resolution. He pointed to Hinduism’s approach to conflict resolution through meditation and debates among scholars as a positive example.

Doval also warned against the dangers of stagnation, citing the resistance to the printing press as an example of how clergy can impede progress. He emphasized the importance of allowing the free flow of thoughts and avoiding stagnation to prevent conflicts from escalating.

M J Akbar, former minister and author, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the need for Muslims to revert to a knowledge-based society. Dr. Ahmet T. Kuru, the author of the book, suggested that Muslims must accept their citizenship and respect democracy to overcome backwardness.

The event was organized by the Khusro Foundation, which aims to challenge false narratives associated with Islam through books and other initiatives. Dr. Hafizur Rahman, convenor of the Khusro Foundation, announced plans to publish a series of children’s books on the subject.
