Assam’s Child Marriage Eradication Efforts Garner National Attention

New Delhi, May 26: The Assam government’s relentless efforts to eliminate child marriage have received widespread commendation at the NDA CMs’ Conclave in New Delhi. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma showcased the state’s best practices in eradicating child marriage, earning appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers.
During the conclave, Dr. Sarma presented a detailed account of the state’s crackdown on child marriage, highlighting the crucial role played by the Assam Police and the cooperation of the people. Prime Minister Modi praised the initiative and encouraged other Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states to emulate Assam’s success.
Prime Minister Modi also suggested that senior officials visit Assam to gain a firsthand understanding of the state’s strategies for eradicating child marriage. The conclave saw Chief Ministers of other NDA-ruled states sharing their best practices in areas such as water conservation, grievance redressal, education, women empowerment, and sports.
The Assam government’s efforts to eliminate child marriage have set a notable example, with the Prime Minister emphasizing the importance of replicating such initiatives to build a healthier nation.
