Assam to Launch ASSAMSAT Satellite with ISRO’s Support

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan today, to discuss the state’s vision of launching its own satellite, ASSAMSAT. The meeting, held at Assam House in New Delhi, focused on collaborating with IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre), Department of Space, Government of India.

ASSAMSAT aims to provide continuous data flow for critical socio-economic projects, focusing on agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, and security and border management.

ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan assured Dr. Sarma of full support in realizing Assam’s vision. The organization will provide technical expertise and resources to ensure the successful launch and operation of ASSAMSAT.

The ASSAMSAT project is expected to boost Assam’s development by providing valuable insights and data for policy planning, flood management, and border monitoring. Dr. Sarma praised ISRO’s stellar work and acknowledged its scientists as a true inspiration for every Indian.

With ISRO’s support, Assam is poised to make significant strides in space technology and its applications. The state government and ISRO will work together to finalize the project’s details and timeline.
