New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is establishing its first Mahila (Women) Reserve Battalion in Nuh, Haryana, marking a significant milestone in enhancing women’s representation and operational capability.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the creation of 1,025 posts for the battalion last year. The
Haryana Government has allocated a 50-acre land parcel in Nuh for the battalion, which was deemed suitable by CISF.

The Mahila Battalion will be equipped with modern security gadgets and will support CISF’s sensitive units in the Delhi NCR region. The battalion’s proximity to the 1st Reserve Battalion, being relocated to Village Indri in Nuh, will enhance CISF’s operational capacity.

The establishment of the Mahila Battalion aims to encourage more women to join CISF, increasing diversity and operational effectiveness. Currently, women comprise over 7% of the CISF force.

The CISF provides security to critical infrastructure, including airports, metro rail systems, and heritage sites. The Mahila Battalion will be deployed to support these units, especially during high-alert situations. With the upcoming Jewar International Airport expected to increase demand for women personnel, the Mahila Battalion is a timely move.
