India Invests in Naval Modernization with INS Vikramaditya Upgrade
The Indian government has allocated ₹1207.5 crore for the upgrade of INS Vikramaditya, the nation’s flagship aircraft carrier. The project, undertaken by Cochin Shipyard Limited, aims to enhance the vessel’s combat capabilities and operational efficiency.
As part of the upgrade, the ship’s combat systems, operational equipment, and support mechanisms will be modernized. This development will significantly boost India’s naval prowess, enabling the country to strengthen its maritime defence posture.
The project is also expected to contribute to the growth of India’s defence manufacturing sector, aligning with the government’s initiatives to promote self-reliance in defence production.
