Indian Navy’s INS Mumbai Joins Multinational Exercise La Perouse

Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer, INS Mumbai, has joined the fourth edition of the multinational exercise La Perouse. The exercise, which brings together navies from around the world, aims to enhance cooperation and interoperability in the Indo-Pacific region.
INS Mumbai, which arrived at Jakarta, Indonesia on an operational visit, will participate in the exercise alongside personnel and assets from eight other maritime nations. The exercise will feature a range of complex and advanced multi-domain exercises, including surface warfare, anti-air warfare, and air defense.
The exercise La Perouse is designed to develop common maritime situational awareness and enhance cooperation in maritime surveillance, interdiction operations, and air operations. It will also promote information sharing and progressive training among participating navies.
India’s participation in the exercise demonstrates its commitment to a rules-based international order in the maritime domain. It also reflects India’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR), which aims to enhance maritime cooperation and collaboration for a safer and more secure Indo-Pacific region.
The exercise La Perouse is a significant opportunity for the Indian Navy to engage with like-minded navies and enhance its interoperability and cooperation in the maritime domain.
