Russian Diplomats Visit Uttarakhand, Explore Cooperation Opportunities

New Delhi: A delegation of Russian diplomats, headed by First Secretary Kristina Ananina and Third Secretary Ekaterina Lazareva, visited Uttarakhand from June 20-22 at the invitation of the state government. During their visit, they met with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and explored avenues for interregional cooperation in sports, tourism, and culture.

The meeting with Chief Minister Dhami focused on developing the region as the largest recreational centre in India. The parties discussed potential areas of cooperation, including investment, tourism, education, and humanitarian contacts. The Chief Minister also invited the Russian diplomats to participate in sports events on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga.

A round table discussion was held in Haridwar with representatives of the relevant ministries of the region. The discussion focused on promising areas of cooperation between Uttarakhand and interested foreign partners, including traditional medicine and Ayurveda.

As part of the cultural programme, the Russian diplomats visited the religious sites of Haridwar and Rishikesh. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between Uttarakhand and Russia, and explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

The state government’s efforts to promote tourism, culture, and investment are likely to yield positive results, given the keen interest shown by the Russian diplomats.
