Indian Coast Guard, Korea Coast Guard Discuss Cooperation in Maritime Security

New Delhi:The 13th High-Level Meeting (HLM) between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Korea Coast Guard (KCG) took place in New Delhi on July 21, 2025. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the two coast guards in areas such as Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR), Pollution Response (PR), and Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE).

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sharing best practices and improving interoperability under the 2006 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The discussions focused on boosting cooperation and strengthening ties between the ICG and KCG.

The meeting was co-chaired by Director General ICG S Paramesh and Commissioner General KIM Yong Jin of the KCG. Commissioner General KIM is leading a five-member delegation on an official visit to India from July 20-24, 2025.

As part of the visit, the KCG delegation will travel to Mumbai from July 23-24 for an industrial visit to Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and an ICG patrol vessel. This visit aims to strengthen maritime industrial and operational linkages between the two countries.
