India’s Naval Power on Display as INS Vikrant Docks in Sri Lanka

Colombo, November 27, 2025 – India’s pride, INS Vikrant, the nation’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, and INS Udaygiri, the latest stealth frigate, have docked in Colombo to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025, hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy as part of their 75th anniversary celebrations.
This maiden overseas deployment marks a significant milestone for both ships, showcasing India’s commitment to regional maritime cooperation and its growing naval prowess. INS Vikrant’s participation underscores India’s engagement with partner navies in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), promoting peace, stability, and security through collaboration.
INS Udaygiri’s presence highlights India’s impressive indigenous shipbuilding capabilities and its expanding naval presence in the IOR. During their stay, the ships will engage in various IFR events, including a ceremonial fleet review, city parade, and community outreach activities, as well as professional naval interactions.
The ships will also be open to visitors, offering a glimpse into India’s naval capabilities.
This visit reinforces India’s dedication to strengthening ties with regional navies and promoting maritime security in the IOR.
