Bastar Development, Healthcare Push at Centre of CM Sai’s Meeting with Amit Shah

New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday to review development initiatives and the shifting security landscape in Bastar. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma was also present.

The talks centered on the “Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan” and expansion of healthcare in Naxal-affected areas. Sai told Shah that regions once inaccessible to ambulances are now seeing regular visits by doctors, medical teams and medicine supplies.

“Medical teams are walking to remote villages to conduct health check-ups and detect serious diseases early, with free treatment for patients,” Sai said. In the past month alone, over 2.186 million people have been screened and digital health profiles created. Thousands have been referred to higher medical centres for timely care.

A key shift highlighted was the conversion of former security camps into “Jan Suvidha Kendras” or Public Service Centres. These facilities now offer villagers healthcare, education, banking, and access to government welfare schemes under one roof, ending the need for long travel to avail basic services.

Launched from Sukma on April 13, 2026, the Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan aims to cover nearly 3.6 million people. Alongside it, the “Bastar Munne” campaign is working to ensure 100% delivery of 31 major government schemes to the last mile.

Infrastructure gains include a new super speciality hospital in Jagdalpur, reducing dependence on Raipur or Bilaspur for advanced care. The rollout of Next-Generation Dial-112 emergency services is also underway.

Sai said areas earlier cut off by Naxal influence are now seeing governance reach the ground. He cited the recent case of a critically ill patient from a remote Sukma village being transported hundreds of kilometres for treatment as evidence of the change.

The Chief Minister also presented a development roadmap for Bastar focused on roads, education, employment, skill development and investment. “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Bastar is witnessing rapid and positive transformation,” he said.

Shah appreciated the ongoing work and expansion of healthcare services, adding that both the Centre and State are committed to ensuring development reaches the last person.

The Home Minister is expected to visit Bastar on May 18 and 19.
