Amit Shah Chairs Border Security Review in Bikaner, Calls for 360-Degree Framework

Bikaner: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner on Saturday to assess issues along the Indo-Pakistan Border in Rajasthan.

The meeting brought together Rajasthan Chief Minister, senior state officials, and the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of five border districts — Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi. Discussions focused on strengthening border management through closer coordination with the State Government.

Shah directed that a 360-degree security framework be formulated for every border district. The integrated approach will involve local citizens, state government machinery, and all security agencies to ensure comprehensive border management.

Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy, the Home Minister called for strict enforcement against illegal constructions within 0–15 km of the international border. He instructed authorities to demolish all such unauthorized structures.

He also stressed a coordinated border management strategy involving the Border Security Force, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Narcotics Control Bureau, and state agencies. The goal: tackle infiltration, narcotics smuggling, encroachment, terror financing, and other trans-border crimes more effectively.

District Magistrates were directed to take on enhanced responsibilities. These include ensuring legal and financial compliance by all banks, verifying major business establishments and their funding sources, tracking mule accounts and shell companies, identifying fake Aadhaar cards, and preventing smuggling.

Shah further instructed officials to make effective use of the ‘1930’ call centre for prompt redressal of cybercrimes and to fully implement the three new criminal laws to bolster law enforcement and judicial processes in the region.

The meeting highlighted the need for successful implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme-II to strengthen last-mile governance, address infrastructure gaps, curb economic crimes, and support border populations. Shah reiterated the target of 100% saturation of all government schemes in border villages.

The Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of security along international borders while promoting close synergy between Central and State agencies for the holistic development and safety of border areas, the meeting noted.
