BSF Cracks Down on Smuggling Network, Seizes Phensedyl Worth ₹1.4 Crore

Kolkata: In a major blow to smuggling networks operating along the India-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) has seized a massive consignment of Phensedyl worth ₹1.4 crore.
The operation, conducted by the 32 Battalion of BSF South Bengal Frontier, took place in the Naghata area of Majhdia town, Nadia district, West Bengal. The search, which began at 02:45 pm on January 24, 2025, yielded 62,200 bottles of Phensedyl hidden in three underground storage tanks.
The seizure has exposed the sophisticated modus operandi of smugglers, who had cleverly concealed the storage tanks under dense vegetation and a hut made of CGI sheets. The BSF’s success in this operation is a testament to the vigilance and commitment of its personnel.
The seized consignment has been handed over to the concerned department for further legal action. The BSF South Bengal Frontier spokesperson praised the operation, stating that it may lead to bigger revelations about the complex network of smugglers in the future.
