Abhay Kamal Mangaldas Named Germany’s Honorary Consul in Ahmedabad

Germany has appointed Abhay Kamal Mangaldas as its Honorary Consul in Ahmedabad to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with Gujarat, the German Embassy announced.

In his new role, Mangaldas will represent German interests in the state, work to deepen cooperation between German and Indian institutions, and provide select consular services to German nationals.

Mangaldas brings extensive experience in business and public service. German officials cited his strong community engagement and leadership credentials as key to advancing bilateral relations at the regional level.

German Ambassador to India Dr. Philipp Ackermann said the appointment will significantly enhance cooperation in industry, innovation, education, renewables, and sustainable development. He noted that Germany and India are marking 75 years of diplomatic relations based on mutual trust and democratic values.

Consul General of Germany in Mumbai Christoph Hallier said the move reflects Gujarat’s growing importance as a hub for economic activity and international collaboration.

Accepting the post, Mangaldas said, “I am deeply privileged to serve as the Honorary Consul of Germany in Ahmedabad. I look forward to strengthening the bonds between Germany and India, and to supporting initiatives that promote collaboration between Germany and the State of Gujarat – not only in trade, but also in culture.”
